Length
Each length unit has a fixed relationship to a meter. Multiply the value by the starting unit’s factor in meters, then divide by the target unit’s factor. For example, 2.5 km × 1,000 equals 2,500 m.
result = value × starting unit factor ÷ target unit factor
| Starting value | Equivalent value |
|---|---|
| 1 km | 1,000 m |
| 1 m | 100 cm |
| 1 cm | 10 mm |
| 1 in (inch) | 2.54 cm |
| 1 ft (foot) | 0.3048 m |
| 1 yd (yard) | 0.9144 m |
| 1 mi (mile) | 1.609344 km |

For 30 cm, divide 30 by 2.54 to get approximately 11.811 in. The relationships in the table are exact; long decimal results shown by the converter are rounded.
